The Protecting Society, along with the Fairhaven Historical Commission, helps to maintain the Town's 2 historic firehouses.

Family of John Rogers Jr.

In 2022, the Spring Street Firehouse was dedicated in memory of John Rogers Jr. 
Mr. Rogers was a call Firefighter for more than 40 years, was former director of the Emergency Manage­ment Agency, was a member of the Fairhaven Fire Apparatus Committee, a member of the Fairhaven Pro­tecting Society.

20 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 

The Protecting Society Building, which stands at 20 Washington Street near the intersection of Main Street, was built in 1858 as the Town Jail.







This building served this purpose until 1894 at which time the Jail was moved to the newly built Town Hall.

The building currently houses Engine 6, which is used for various town events.
